I listened and adapted and started speaking with an American accent at school. Speaking! Nobody could understand me, and I was already used to being picked on for being flamboyant. The VERY first time I did drag onstage was in a production of Pageant: The Musical, in Oklahoma City. Ross McCorkell, aka Rosé, moved here with his family from Scotland at the age of 10 to Houston, Texas, and would fake an American accent just to fit in.
